BOAT TRAVELS
Desolation Sound
to Pender Harbour
This is a continuation of the Cortes Island to Desolation Sound trip made in April 2004.
Leaving Desolation and heading down the coast again, we looked westward to the mountains of Vancouver Island.
Once again we passed Powell River on Malaspina Strait, which is to be our hometown when we "settle down".
Between the lower & upper Sunshine Coast lie Hardy & Nelson Islands, and between them is Blind Bay.
It was a great spot to stop to stretch our legs and have a picnic. Logs like this adorn the shores and are nature's sculptures.
Here's the skipper waiting for his crew to return.
After a quiet overnight, we headed back out into Georgia Strait, past these rocks that were marking the entrance to Blind Bay.
Because the whole area we explored on our trip was new to Rod, and some of it to Sandra, and because it was so picturesque and peaceful, it was a special moment in our boating history that we both treasure.
