SAN FRANCISCO AREA

Mt. Diablo
BACK TO RV TRAVELS
HOME
Dianne & Peter took us for a long car ride winding up Mt. Diablo, east of San Francisco.
As we switched back and forth, great vistas opened up before us.
At the top of the mountain was a lookout building / interpretive center.
This is Sandra having a "peak experience".  As the sign points out, the peak of the mountain was left exposed inside the interpretive center, so you could stand on it.
Rod, Peter & Dianne checking out the views.
And here are some of the views we saw.
Peter was pointing out that you could actually see the curvature of the earth from this height.  There are tremendous views in all directions - including east to Sacramento & the Sierras, & south to SF Bay.  He added that you could actually see Yosemite on a clear day.  Sadly the urban sprawl is slowly working its way toward the mountain.
Sandra took this shot of our pretty friend Dianne as we waited for the guys to get the car and take us back down the mountain.
