In June of 1941, shortly after I was born, I was very fortunately adopted by my parents Lowell & Patricia Mell in Alameda, CA. Dad was a grammer school principal and before I was brought home Mother was a credit manager for retail stores. A year later with WWII on Dad volunteered for the Navy. He spent most of his time as Recognition Officer aboard Aircraft Carriers in the Pacific. Mother stayed home to raise me (I should say did her best to - I'm sure I was a handful!).
After the war Dad returned to his principalship and soon became first principal of a new High School in Alameda. He retired in 1964 and they spent quite a bit of time travelling and doing volunteer work. In later life Mother developed Alzheimer's which she finally died of in 1993. Dad had excellent health except for needing a portable oxygen tank in his later years. He hung in there until 1992 - age 91! They were wonderful people and I miss them.
This is my cousin Peggy who lives in San Mateo, CA. She is the daughter of my Dad's younger sister Kay. She is One Sweet Gal! Peggy is a nurse - and I'm sure a darn good one. She has two grown sons and three grandchildren and has been a widow for several years. (Also see "Visit with Peggy" under "RV Travels")
Here's my cousin Joel. What a great guy!
He is one of the sons of my Father's older sister Ruth. He's a retired Attorney for the State of California. He lives in Sacramento, CA with his wife Jane and their teenage daughter Katherine. Joel is a long time avid pilot and loves hanging out in the Sacramento Delta. (Also see "Visit with Joel" under "RV Travels".)
Compared to Sandra's family, mine is quite small - at least those that are left and that I have contact with. I don't have any children and was an only child. I never knew any of my Mother's family except for her Mother who lived with us for many years. Dad had a brother and two sisters who are both gone. I have recently renewed contact with two cousins Joel and Peggy who are below.
