Rod found us another great RV park just outside Rio Vista CA, in the Delta region north of San Francisco.
Rod had traveled extensively through this area on his sailboat, and enjoyed sharing it with me, to whom all of it was new. It's a unique area that seemed very tranquil and inviting, with levees running along the many rivers and sloughs that meandered through the flat delta land. The largest of these were the Sacramento and San Juaquin Rivers. This is one of the peaceful scenes along a river.
A Chinese lunch in an authentic restaurant started our wanderings through the historical Chinese village of Locke.
We hiked for quite a ways along one of the levees, and Buddy got so full of burrs that we had to take him to a groomer to have an extensive haircut. Here's how he looked before & after.
Rod's cousin Joel (see also page on our visit with him & his family) took us to a restaurant in Rio Vista where they had an enormous selection of stuffed wild animals on the walls. Sandra doesn't know whether she was more fascinated or appalled, but she liked the photo on the wall that showed a lion with the bones of a dead hunter.
This is a view of the Delta region from Joel's Cessna.
This peaceful area reflected a tranquil time in our lives and on our trip.
